Kawase HASUI

Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) is regarded as amongst the greatest of the Shin Hanga artists and is renowned worldwide for his landscape prints. In 1956, the year before his death, he was named a 'Living National Treasure' in Japan.

Hasui's prints draw in the viewer with their dreamlike qualities and sense of yearning for the tranquility of the past in an era of modernization and upheaval. As his reputation continues to grow and his prints become scarcer, they will no doubt gain in value over time.
