Kokoro Japanese Art

art with heart

Up one level Shin Hanga Collection

The shin hanga (literally 'new prints') art movement in early 20th century Japan, during the Taisho (1912-1926) and early Showa (1926-1989) periods, revitalized traditional woodblock print art. Western influences were absorbed into the art form, giving a greater emphasis on capturing tones of light and atmosphere.
